As of 8.14.20, all parks in the District are currently open for trails users. We encourage residents to make use of our outdoor spaces while following our Safe Practices guidelines for park use.
You Can Help Us Keep the Parks Open & Safe:
We love you all & are fortunate to have trails and parks open for use, but some parks are getting heavy use on peak days and we need your help to manage crowds so that we don’t have to close these parks.
- Please moderate use of popular parks like Moore Creek Park, Oat Hill Mine Trail and Skyline Wilderness Park and visit at off peak hours if possible. Help us keep crowds at a manageable level so that we can keep parks open.
- Robert Louis Stevenson Park does not have adequate parking for the number of users that we’ve been seeing. Please avoid RLS State Park for the time being and choose alternate trails if you need to get out to a park.
- If parking lots and trailheads become too crowded, we will have to close these parking lots and/or parks. Help us keep crowds small by choosing lesser used trails and parks near your home. Now is the perfect time to explore a new trail when you get outside, explore your neighborhood, or get outside during non-peak hours when you can.
- Need park & trail suggestions? Our full trail map is here, and we’ve assembled a list of easy hike suggestions here. Note: Many of the trails/parks listed on the interactive map are not managed by NOSD. Please be sure to check the websites of the managing agency/organization for each trail or park before you head out. For the full list of NOSD parks, please click here.

Keep Parks & People Healthy & Safe:
1) Please practice safe social distancing and trail etiquette in all parks. Napa County’s new health order strongly encourages community members to wear face masks in indoor public spaces and/or in areas where you cannot maintain safe social distancing.
2) Help us spread the crowds out:
- If you can, choose midweek rather than a weekend for your walk in our most popular parks.
- It’s best to choose parks that you can walk or ride to. Explore close to home.
- Pick a new trail. Popular parks like Moore Creek and Skyline Wilderness Park have limited parking and may be closed if they get too crowded. Check out the interactive trail map here.
- Be on the lookout for overused parks and do not make the situation worse. Parking lots can alert you to overused parks immediately. If parking lots are full, come back another time when it is less crowded. If at any time you feel like you are unable to maintain a 6 ft distance, leave and come back another time (do not expect the ability to maintain a social distance to improve the farther out you get)
3) Face Masks: The State of California now requires face coverings in all indoor spaces and/or in instances where you cannot safely maintain 6 feet of distance. Please help us keep all of our park & trail users safe by following mask requirements.
4) We’re all in this together & our community continues to support one another through this health crisis. Please help our small staff maintain our parks and trails and follow the safety rules that are in place to keep our parks open for use for us all.

- Camping and day use areas are open, but only for groups that share an immediate household. No gatherings or multi family events are permitted currently.
- We are planning on maintaining public facilities such as restrooms and drinking fountains as long as possible, but our ability to safely continue this may change. Please bring water and hand sanitizer if you visit the parks.
- All dogs must remain on leash at all times in parks where dogs are allowed.
