Now more than ever, the Napa Open Space District understands the need for all of us to take advantage of our parks and outdoor spaces during the COVID-19 health emergency and statewide shelter in place order.
We encourage visitors to use our parks and outdoor spaces to get outside for fresh air and exercise, but we need everyone’s help to keep one another safe so that we can keep our parks open for use during this period. Please be sure to practice safe social distancing so that we can all do our part to flatten the curve.
You Can Help Us Keep the Parks Open & Safe:
We love you all & are fortunate to have trails and parks open for use, but some parks are getting heavy use on peak days and we need your help to manage crowds so that we don’t have to close these parks.
- Please moderate use of popular parks like Moore Creek Park, Oat Hill Mine Trail and Skyline Wilderness Park and visit at off peak hours if possible. Help us keep crowds at a manageable level so that we can keep parks open.
- If parking lots and trailheads become too crowded, we will have to close these parking lots and/or parks. Help us keep crowds small by choosing lesser used trails and parks near your home. Now is the perfect time to explore a new trail when you get outside, explore your neighborhood, or get outside during non-peak hours when you can.
- Need park & trail suggestions? Our full trail map is here, and we’ve assembled a list of easy hike suggestions here. Note: Many of the trails/parks listed on the interactive map are not managed by NOSD. Please be sure to check the websites of the managing agency/organization for each trail or park before you head out. For the full list of NOSD parks, please click here.
- For the full Covid-19 Safe Practices rules and details, please see below. We will continue to update park and trail information as we can.
Please help us keep our parks open and safe for everyone by following the simple safe practices below.
- If You’re Sick, Stay Home: Trails and parks should be treated like any other public space and if you’re sick you should opt to stay home and keep everyone safe.
- Go Solo & Avoid Crowds: If you’re visiting the parks, please only come in groups of family or people that you live with. Going outdoors during this time is for our health and not for socializing in groups.
- Maintain 6 Feet Social Distancing: Please be mindful of your surroundings and maintain 6 feet of social distancing space at all times.
- Cover Your Cough: Always sneeze and cough into a tissue, or if one is not available, into your elbow.
- Do Not Shake Hands: Limit physical contact to members of your immediate household. No unnecessary physical contact in parks.
- Trail Etiquette: Please leave extra space when passing people on trails. If you’re in a group, this means making a single file line and stepping off the trail to allow safe space for people to pass.
- All Dogs On Leash: In the parks that allow dogs, please keep your dog on leash at all times and remove any waste when you leave. Off leash dogs may interact with other trail users/other dogs and can spread the virus on contact.
- Face Masks: The State of California now requires face coverings in all indoor spaces and/or in instances where you cannot safely maintain 6 feet of distance. Please help us keep all of our park & trail users safe by following mask requirements.
