Spring is upon us and here are some public hikes to experience these beautiful wildflowers…
Wildflowers/Geology Mt. Saint Helena – April 18th
Robert Louis Stevenson State Park, Calistoga>>
Wildflowers or Rocks? How about Wildflowers Rock! On this hike you don’t have to choose one theme over the other, because we’ll provide both. Join botany enthusiast JoeJoe Clark, and geologist Sarah Clark for this combo hike to Bubble Rock and beyond. See the impressive post-fire flower show annotated by JoeJoe, of course. Meanwhile Sarah will discuss how California formed, the mineral resources in the area, and a bit about northern Sonoma volcanics. Whew! If it is a clear day she’ll also go into Clear Lake volcanics and how the Sierra Nevada mountain range formed. The hike will be a little over 5 miles and will take approximately 4 hours. Bring a snack or lunch for this moderately strenuous hike.
Please also note:
- There are no bathrooms at RLS.
- The parking lot is small at RLS, so if you know anyone else attending, please try to carpool. (Please use caution while parking!)
And the Napa Valley chapter of CNPS is happy to announce the 2020 Wildflower Hikes!
