Pioneer History

October 18, 2019

oct history
In the past millers, preachers, teachers, and survivors shared a common thread in the history of the Bale Grist Mill and Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. Discover their connection on this hike and learn a bit about natural history, too! You will be led by a park naturalist to the pioneer cemetery and the site of Napa’s first church. After a 1.2 mile hike, you will arrive at the Bale Grist Mill during Old Mill Days where you can see how pioneers milled grain in the 1800’s and join in the harvest-inspired festivities!

Please note:
This is a one-way guided hike from Bothe Park to the Bale Grist Mill. Hikers will need to hike back on their own.
Day Use will be waived at the Bothe entrance station if you mention you are attending the hike. However, if you intend to take a mill tour and/or participate in Old Mill Days the cost will be $5 per person.
Food will be available for purchase at the mill for Old Mill Days, so plan to bring some cash!
