The Napa Open Space District is currently recruiting for one permanent full-time position in our field operations structure. Our District has grown rapidly over the years and currently manages or operates more than 160 miles of recreational trails, with several major projects planned in the coming years that will add additional acreage and trail miles to our holdings.
The right candidate will enjoy extensive work in the outdoors, managing multiple concurrent tasks and projects, and substantial interaction with the public and trail users. This candidate, depending on skills and experience, could fill either a Park Maintenance Specialist or a Park Steward Assistant role.

Park Maintenance Specialist
The Park Maintenance Specialist functions as the on-site supervisor performing skilled work in property maintenance, alteration, and repair and provides lead supervision over the work being performed by Park Steward Assistants, Park Aides, and volunteers. This class may also act as Park Manager in the absence of a managing Park Steward.
This is a field position that requires extensive work in the outdoors. In other organizations the Park Maintenance Specialist might be called a Park Ranger, however in the service of the Napa Open Space District this is not a peace officer position.
Park Steward Assistant
The Park Steward Assistant, under supervision, performs responsible public contact and park protection work; assists with the planning, development, and maintenance of District lands; collects visitor day-use and overnight camping fees; answers questions and complaints of the public; instructs park visitors in nature or other interpretive programming; performs a variety of work in the construction, modification, maintenance, restoration, and repair of District lands and facilities; and performs related duties as required.
