Napa Open Space District Receives Grant for Suscol Headwaters Park
The Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District was awarded a $1.2 million grant from California Department of Parks and Recreation to complete work on 14 miles of multi-use trails and a new, more accessible, parking lot at Suscol Headwaters Park.
The park is located at the southern end of the City of Napa, and is currently only accessible through Skyline Wilderness Park. The new parking area and trail system will be much more accessible to residents of southern Napa County in the cities of Napa and American Canyon and will feature recreational activities for all abilities.
“The access trail from the parking lot will be pretty flat and smooth, so it will be great for families who only want to do a short hike. It’s a really neat perspective, even if you just want to do a two-mile or one-mile out-and-back hike,” said our very own Kyra Purvis.
This will be a multi-year project, and was funded through money from Proposition 68, a $4 billion bond or parks, water and the environment passed in 2018.
