Berryessa Peak Trail is 8 miles each way, offering spectacular views in all directions. On a clear day you can see the Sierra Nevada mountains, Snow Mountain to the north, and Mt. Diablo to the south!
Despite this being one of the most challenging hiking trails in Napa County, a group of eight Tuleyome volunteers hauled sign post markers and stairs 3,000 feet up the mountain and about three miles in. The primary focus was rebuilding infrastructure that burned, which included replacing the trail markers and fence crossing with metal substitutes. About 150 pounds of metal was hauled up the mountain and installed. Andrew Fulks, who spearheaded this effort, chose really heavy and thick gauge steel, so it won’t melt the next time a wildfire sweeps through the area. Plus, all the posts were recycled from fencing that had been removed for construction elsewhere.
A big thank you goes out to these hardworking volunteers!
