Update on Napa River and Bay Trail
The 0.7 mile segment of the combined Napa River Trail, San Francisco Bay Trail and Vine Trail that runs from Soscol Ferry Road to Napa Pipe is now open.
New Trails at Moore Creek
Join the ribbon cutting on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10 am for the opening of the Lake Hennessey Unit of Moore Creek Park, including 6.5 miles of new trails looping through more than 900 acres of hills and shoreline along Lake Hennessey. There will be a guided hike, and a longer guided mountain bike tour that will also include the new (and awesome) Valentine Vista Trail in Moore Creek Park. You're welcome to bring your horse and go for a ride as well, though if you plan to please give Chris Cahill a call at 299-1335 so we can be sure there's enough parking for your trailer. Meet at the Moore Creek Park staging area at 2607 Chiles and Pope Valley Road (from the Napa Valley, take Highway 128 past Lake Hennessey, and bear left at the Y intersection just east of the Lake for 1.3 miles).
Napa River and Bay Trail Construction Update
The section of the planned Napa River and Bay Trail between Soscol Ferry Road and the Napa Valley Corporate Park is scheduled to start construction the week of September 29, 2014
Napa County Wildlife Conservation Commission Awards 2014 Grants
Wildlife Conservation Commission awards $37,500 to seven local groups; NCRPOSD a recipient.
Application deadline for Advisory Committee extended
The deadline for applications to the Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District Advisory Committee has been extended until all appointments are made. Interested persons are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Each city council and each county Supervisor will review the applications and make nominations to the park district as described in the earlier news item on this topic. The application form is under the Documents tab on this web page.
Applicants Sought for Advisory Committee
The Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District is seeking applicants to serve on a special Park and Open Space District Advisory Committee to evaluate the District’s track record since its establishment by the voters in 2006 and to recommend next steps and initiatives for the District.
Effective Sunday April 13th, Moore Creek Park Has Reopened
The Valentine Vista Trail is now complete and open to hikers and cyclists, but please refrain from riding horses on it until we get a little rain to settle and compact the soil. Thanks!

New Director Appointed for Ward 1
Karen Bower Turjanis has been appointed by the Board of Directors to serve as the Director for Ward 1.
Oat Hill Mine Trail Advisory
The public is advised to not use the northern portion of the Oat Hill Mine Trail, between Aetna Springs trailhead and the Holm's Place (at the junction of the Palisades Trail) starting Saturday, August 10, 2013 and continuing through Sunday September 22, 2013. This seaonal closure is for the safety of the public, and coincides with both deer hunting season as well as a time of high risk of wildfire.
Moore Creek Park Opening June 30, 2013
Napa County's first new regional park is about to open. Volunteers will construct new trails June 29th and 30th, then officially open the park at 1 pm on Sunday, June 30th.
Sixth Year Celebration
The District is holding a special meeting on January 9th, 2013 at 5:30 pm to celebrate the District's first six years. The celebration will be held at the Napa River Inn on Main Street in downtown Napa. You're invited to come and learn about the District, share conversation and enjoy Napa wines and tasty treats.

Napa's State Parks Saved!
Bothe-Napa Valley State Park and the Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park reopened Sunday, April 1st under the management of the Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District and the Napa Valley State Parks Association.

A local coalition has formed to prevent the planned closure of Bothe-Napa Valley State park and the Bale Grist Mill State Historic park. Your help will be needed.
$1.5 million grant awarded to construct Camp Berryessa
The State Coastal Conservancy on March 17, 2011 awarded a $1.5 million grant to the District for a new environmental education camp
Habitat Restoration at Napa River Ecological Reserve
Restoration of the meadow at the entrance to the Napa River Ecological Reserve has begun. The California Conservation Corps undertook a first round of invasive weed clearance in the spring of 2010. Starting in the falll of 2010, local students and other volunteers will start replanting with native plants.
