Volunteer Weekends at Moore Creek

Join a fun group of volunteers the second weekend of each month at Moore Creek.

In December 2008 the Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District purchased 673 acres of open space in the Moore Creek watershed, immediately north of Lake Hennessey.  Acquisition of the property protects 3 miles of perennial creek, will result in improved water quality for this important souce of drinking water for the City of Napa, and allows for the establishment of a new open space park with miles of trails for hiking, mountain bicycling and horseback riding, as well as opportunities for picnicking and camping.

The second weekend of each month, 15-25 volunteers converge on Moore Creek to help get the property ready to open as a public park.  Each month is a different project, ranging from trail construction, fence and gate work, habitat restoration, demolition, cleanup, building repairs and more.  Some volunteers come just for Saturday, Sunday, or both days, and some stay over Friday and/or Saturday night.  Great meals are provided free.  Overnighters can use the ranch house beds or bring a tent and sleep outdoors.  To find out more, use the Volunteer Sign-Up tab at the top of the page, or call Chino at 707-337-3885.
